Boys Championship
The WPGA Boys Championship has a long and decorated history of crowning some of the eventual top amateur players in the region.
Started in 1959, the WPGA Boys Championship has been played all but one year since.
The Championship features three age divisions (15 & Under, 13 & Under, 10 & Under) in which players may compete.
The first WPGA Boys Championships was won by Steve Stitt, who claimed back-to-back victories in 1959 and 1960 when the competition was only a 15 & Under event. The championship added a 13 & Under division in 1996 and a 9-hole 10 & under division in 2015.
An accomplished list of players have won the Boys Championship, including Frank Fuhrer III, an eventual U.S. Walker Cup team member, in 1973, and Nathan Smith, a three-time Walker Cup player and 2025 U.S. Walker Cup team captain, in 1994.
A handful of players have won multiple boys titles. Nick Turowski, Colin McKenzie, Luke Miller and Donald Thomas have won the competition three times across different age divisions.
The Boys Championship serves as an introduction to the WPGA’s championship program and is available to all junior boys age 15 and younger who reside in Western Pennsylvania or belong to a WPGA Member Club.
The competition is 18 holes of stroke play, with the 10 & Under division being a 9-hole event.
