Mission Statement

To foster, promote and advance the true spirit of the game of golf throughout Western Pennsylvania.

Founded in 1899, the Western Pennsylvania Golf Association is one of the oldest golf associations in the country and the steward of amateur golf in the region. Started by five Member Clubs, the association now has nearly 200 Member Clubs and over 43,000 members.

To conduct daily business, the WPGA employs a full-time staff with offices in the historic neighborhood Allegheny West in the North Side of Pittsburgh, which is also home to the Western Pennsylvania Golf Hall of Fame.

Our primary missions are competitions, handicapping and course rating, and member services. We also administer the WPGA Scholarship Fund to provide tuition assistance to employees of our Member Clubs and the WPGA Foundation to promote and grow the game. Educational programs are offered yearly to our growing membership in a variety of areas and formats.

The affairs and property of the Association are directed by a Board of Directors composed of members from our Member Clubs, and we are supported by many volunteers.

Thank you to all of the volunteers who assist the Western Pennsylvania Golf Association in the many areas you serve. Our volunteers help us conduct championships and qualifying rounds, rate golf courses, and perform many other tasks. Without you, we could not perform our mission.
